CLEAR INSTANT (THOMAS DE PRINS + MICHÄEL BRIJS
CLEAR INSTANT is the duo consisting of Thomas De Prins and Michaël Brijs. Starting from a dialogue between piano and flute, this duo makes improvisations with a cosmic and meditative character. The pure acoustic sound is being accompanied with electronic instruments. Both musicians colour their pre-compositions by the impulses and influences of the moment. This way they create their own universe of semi-electronic bedroom-music where they get inspired with everything crossing their path. Serial and modular structures develop themselves to virtual romantic lyrics. Dodecaphony is being transformed in to jazz baroque or spectacular sounds in their hands. The live sessions are a sonorous action painting driven by a pretty insane musical passion. The result is as surprising for this duo as for their audience.
BLAASTAAL SESSIE I / II / III
Bert Lezy turns language inside out with Blaastaal. He makes the everyday language abstract and absurd. Collages of newspaper articles, traffic information, language courses, commercials, weather forecasts and fairy tales are being combined with sound effects, tapes with yoga-exercises and once a while some music. He deejays and scratches freely and backwards until eccentric compositions are created. Bert creates three performances based on the language of Bruegel.
LIESELOT DE WILDE + PIETER THEUNS
Together they have been making music for several years under the name Bel Ayre. In the meanwhile Pieter has his own band B.O.X (Baroque Orchestration X), while Lieselot is the driving force behind the ensemble Bel Ayre, moving it towards new directions with some jazz and world music. This authentic live music is being recorded by Joris Van De Moortel in his installation. The installation pushes, reshapes and amplifies the intimacy of the voice and the lute. The composition is original and modern. The sounds are being transported through the installation towards today.
CARLO TUNE UP + MAURO PAWLOwSkI + JORIS VAN DE MOORTEL
Will bring you for the occasion of the opening night a collage of 16th century polyphonic and instrumental music with guitar tears.

Due to the construction work currently being undertaken, KultuurKaffee has opted for a nomadic existence and, together with a guest curator, assembles twice a year a multidisciplinary programme of events at various locations dotted around the city of Brussels.
During 6 weeks our guest curator works around a specific theme. He or she chooses different artists from several artistic fields to create and put together an impressive line up. Each time we search for a unique location in the heart of Brussels that harmonizes with the philosophy of the program.
This spring artist and musician Joris Van De Moortel will be the guest curator of BANG! festival #5.
Joris Van de Moortel will bring an ode to painter Pieter Paul Bruegel The Elder during BANG! the artist and his guests enter into dialogue with Bruegel's allegorical painting: “Twelve Proverbs” (1558-1560).
Every evening is dedicated to the voicing of a proverb of Bruegel, this coupled to a different key.
