SOLO

(Adagio)

In ‘Solo (Adagio)’ visual artist Ruben Montini (° 1986 Italy / lives and works in Berlin)  will bring a poetic interpretation of the Bruegel proverb, ‘to hang the bell around the cat’s neck (in c)’. The saying refers to any task that is difficult or impossible to achieve. During his performance Montini drags a self-made armour of textile, created with all his clothes, socks, pillowcases etc., as a second skin through the nave of the church, attached to it: little bells producing a gentle but intense sound.

While singing an  a cappella version of an Adagio in C, which will be a composition that alternates main motives from both “The Heart” by Macy Gray and “Ci si arrende” by Zucchero, Montini embodies the need to be seen by the person we love the most and who has decided to leave us. The song reflects on the impossibility to stop this desire, since it is the heart that rules, and its nature cannot be changed…

VOID

NOISE IS FULL OF WORDS

Noise is full of words is a performance in which a vocal recognition software writes down in real time what it understands from the sound produced by a guitar, as consequence of a glitch.

VOID is a visual sound art collective founded by Arnaud Eeckhout and Mauro Vitturini in 2013, based in Brussels.

"THE SATISFACTION OF A RESONANT BODY OR THE ANTHOLOGY OF NON-HOMOGENEOUS" - (2015 - 2017)

sound performance by Davide Bertocchi and curator Joris Van de Moortel, in which the improvised sounds of an electric guitar will alternate through diffraction with those produced by a kind of "human organ” (the "Resonant Body") This organ is an invented instrument made up of organ pipes, a metallic structure and a large table, that will be animated by the blowing of four performers.

CEL CRABEELS

COMPOSITION FOR 7 THRONETHUMPERS: CEL CRABEELS + ORIANA DIERINCK + RUBEN MACHTELINCKX  + AARICH JESPERS

Visual artist Cel Crabeels (º1958, Brecht (B)) invites during BANG! guitarist Ruben Machtelinckx, colorist Aarich Jespers and fluteist Oriana Dierinck to improvise in C in a church set-up for a self-appointed time. Cel Crabeels created an immersive installation that controls a compilation of vibration and noise by 7 Thronethumper speakers mounted on church chairs. Before and after improvisation, the audience is free to take place and experience the vibrations of the compositions sent by the chairs in their bodies.

BEGIJNHOFKERK BRUSSEL

Due to the construction work currently being undertaken, KultuurKaffee has opted for a nomadic existence and, together with a guest curator, assembles twice a year a multidisciplinary programme of events at various locations dotted around the city of Brussels.

During 6 weeks our guest curator works around a specific theme. He or she chooses different artists from several artistic fields to create and put together an impressive line up. Each time we search for a unique location in the heart of Brussels that harmonizes with the philosophy of the program.

This spring artist and musician Joris Van De Moortel will be the guest curator of BANG! festival #5.

Joris Van de Moortel will bring an ode to painter Pieter Paul Bruegel The Elder during BANG! The artist and his guests enter into dialogue with Bruegel's allegorical painting: “Twelve Proverbs” (1558-1560).

Every evening is dedicated to the voicing of a proverb of Bruegel, this coupled to a different key.
