SONIC BUT danceable MADNESS
`Bismuth is an electric noise band consisting of Yuri Landman & Arnold van de Velde. This two-piece makes difficult music danceable. So, don’t expect soundscapes, drones, nor rock or pop music. Although sound artists are mainly busy creating soundscapes these guys rock! Most instruments consist of wood, metal bars, strings and guitar pickups, but they don’t sound anything conventional in any way.
Their homebuilt experimental instruments give us radically danceable beats, experimental grooves and free improvisation on top. All is created by sound on sounds looping, making clicks, bleeps and riffs.
Before the show, all instrument builders from the Malvich String Plate Workshop (led by Landman) give a small demonstration of the instruments manufactured at the workshop.
Free for Subbacultcha! members.
NO COMFORTS – NO ZONES
Due to the construction work currently being undertaken, KultuurKaffee has opted for a nomadic existence and, together with a guest curator, assembles twice a year a multidisciplinary programme of events at various locations dotted around the city of Brussels. Spring 2016 musician Johannes Verschaeve pushes his festival guests (along with himself) out of their comfort zone(s) and invites them at The Brussels Art Institute of Belgian artist Jan De Cock (BAI_) for a surprising six weeks.
