Brussels Jazz Marathon 2015: YVES PEETERS GUMBO (BE)

Support: The class of Jeroen Van Herzeele

Saturday 23 May 2015
Ouverture des portes : 19:30
Price : Free!
Location : Petit Théâtre Mercelis Plan

During the Brussels Jazz Marathon Yves Peeters Gumbo wants to introduce you to its newest project 'The Big Easy Revisited', an imaginary trip to New Orleans before and after Hurricane Katrina. In the music you will be able to hear a mix of influences and styles. The band doesn't want to lapse into the usually worn out clichés, therefore they created room for improvisation besides the vocals from the gospel and soul, groove and rhythm.

During the performance you can expect a personal and contemporary interpretation of the birthplace of jazz music and its musical legacy, New Orleans. The music of artists such as Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet are also influenced by 'The Big Easy'.

After realizing several projects, such as UTZ, KLEPTOMATICS, GUILLAUME VIERSET - HERVEST GROUP and ANOO Yves Peeters wanted to focus himself mainly on his current band: Yves Peeters Gumbo. This band from Ghent released their first album 'Sound Tracks' in 2010, followed by their second album 'All you see' in 2013. On both albums there is a mix of influences such as: African, American and rock music, but they kept the most important ingredient, jazz

Would you like to experience this New Orleans atmosphere? Well, write down 'Yves Peeters Gumbo' on the 23rd of May in your diary!
