KULTUURKAFFEE INTRODUCES NEW PROJECT: BARAK LILI M.

Music Fine Arts

Friday 01 March 2019

At the end of April, KultuurKaffee will take a part of our day-to-day action to the former Fritz Toussaint barracks in Ixelles to start developing our brand-new project: Barak Lili M.

As one of the 41 selected projects we are given the admission by developer See U to be one of the temporary users who will take up residence during the transition phase of Usquare.brussels.

Barak Lili M will offer studio space for promising, young talent, a rehearsal room for musicians. And last but not least, we’ll also initiate an open space for future thinkers and doers with ambitions towards creative entrepreneurship.

PLACE FOR CREATION

First and foremost, Barak Lili M. inspires to be a space for creation, a place where young people from in and around Brussels can experiment, fail, grow and develop themselves.

  • 3 STUDIO ROOMS

  • 1 REHEARSAL ROOM

  • THE INTERSPACE

On the one hand, we ‘ll open our so-called interspace at Barak Lili M. A place that welcomes future thinkers and doers with enterprising ambitions in the broad cultural field. The interspace is a place where wild ideas can grow, where we offer tailor-made guidance for small or wide-scale projects that can be socially-cultural, ecological or artistic in nature.

On the other hand, Barak Lili M offers three studio spaces to promising, young artists, mainly artists with an artistic focus on the intersection between art and science. And finally, we also build a rehearsal room that can be used by young musicians.

SEE U SOON

Barak Lili M will soon open its doors in Usquare. Usquare will be a new student district with 650 flats, 200 houses, a market hall and space for start-ups. Perspective.Brussels was called in to transform the old barracks of Ixelles into a new Brussels city and university district - open, international, innovative, diverse, sustainable and cozy.

See You manages the temporary occupation, they welcome forty temporary users, including KultuuKaffee.

COLLABORATION

It goes without saying that KultuurKaffee obviously does not want to develop Barak Lili on its own. To us co-creation is key, both young people connected to the universities, the municipality or the city are very welcome. That’s why from March onwards, we will launch a call to young artistic talent to activate the site together.

We will keep you up to date with more news.
