DIRK HENDRIKX; PROPS EN INTERVIEWS
+ MICHA VOLDERS AND KRIS DANE
I move him,
and I bear the sound and rhythm with me,
two bodies commit to one.
Performance artist Dirk Hendrikx works with Micha Volders (Vermin Twins, Chrome Brulée) and Kris Dane on body movements such as ‘dragging’, ‘pushing’, ‘standing', … With the help of their own bodies, a soundscape is created, back to back.
Penser Fou is part four of a further to achieve overall project. Dirk Hendrikx already filmed his previous work at Bozar, Botanique and at his own KunstenFestivalDesAards. Each work of art can stand on its own, but at the same time, they add to the preparation of a film project for the future.
Hendrikx tells stories with his body. He completely masters the language and technique of the ‘mime corporel’. Besides his work as a performer (eg. Drift), Dirk is also a visual artist (photography, sculpture, video art, ...). In his work Hendrikx constantly keeps searching for a primitive purity that has been lost in our society.
COMPOSITIon for 8 PERSONAL COMPUTERS - WIM REYGAERT
The soundtrack of everyday life.
May we introduce to you: 8 computers, 8 musicians, the Internet, two printers and two fans. Or rather: the orchestra of Wim Reygaert.
Inspired by a photograph of a cybercafé, Reygaert examined old and new music technologies, creating his own musical writing.
As with a classical orchestration (winds, strings, percussion,...) his computer ensemble is composed of several sections. Each musician of this performance has his own composition, a score that has to be finished to a predetermined timetable. The composition does not consist of musical staffs but departs from web addresses, URLs, and other commands.
All the found noises Reygaert manipulates and he reassembles them into one new whole. An unique piece of music as a continuous stream without rhythm, melody or harmony.
Belgian director / musician Wim Reygaert divides his time between making movies, music videos, commercials and the Belgian noise rock trio Drums Are For Parades.
NO COMFORTS – NO ZONES
Due to the construction work currently being undertaken, KultuurKaffee has opted for a nomadic existence and, together with a guest curator, assembles twice a year a multidisciplinary programme of events at various locations dotted around the city of Brussels. Spring 2016 musician Johannes Verschaeve pushes his festival guests (along with himself) out of their comfort zone(s) and invites them at The Brussels Art Institute of Belgian artist Jan De Cock (BAI_) for a surprising six weeks.
