GANTZ (TK, Deep Medi, Innamind Rec)
Every so often a producer comes through and changes the game a little; forging fresh sonic pathways within sounds and genres, exhibiting the ingenuity to deliver truly original and exciting material. Gantz is one of those rare breaths of fresh air, blessed with the inherent creative instinct to deviate from the same played-out formulas and boilerplates. His beats are pure sub-frequency driven rudeness, full of interesting syncopations, propulsive energy and glances of chilling melody. Meticulously assembling tracks from his lab in Istanbul, Gantz has reserved his releases for two of dubstep’s flagship labels; the mighty Innamind Recordings crew and the Black Box/ Box Clever family, with plenty more intriguing releases planned for the future. Now well established in the dubstep community and beyond, his dubs are dropped by some of the most heavyweight selectors including Mala, Distance and Vivek, and the demand to hear Gantz bring the heat in a live club environment grows day by day. As 2013 draws to its conclusion, he will have toured the U.S. and Canada with Innamind, and headlined gigs in Europe from London to Helsinki; if you are reaching a Gantz show, expect soundsystem punishing basslines, leftfield beats and the unexpected from a guy with a captivating talent.
J.ROBINSON (UK, Tribe12, Whodemsound)
London is constantly providing fresh new underground talents and J.Robinson is no exception to that rule. The fresh newcomer from North London has not long become one of the recognised figures of the deep electronic underground scene. Gaining a serious reputation within both 140 and 170 scenes, J.Robinson has been picking up strong support from dBridge, J.Kenzo, Icicle, V.I.V.E.K., Om Unit and many more. With notable releases on Renegade Hardware, Voodoo Music and DJ Ink’s Architecture Recordings, his range is impeccable and includes vibrant percussive vibes mixed with the more avant-garde style. He’s already supported by the leading figures of Dubstep & Drum & Bass and his track The Maasai plays a special part in Icicle’s Rinse 19 mix. J.Robinson has also recently launched his own imprint Tribe12 Music Ltd, responsible for bringing artists such as Gantz, Wayfarer and Perverse through, he consistently succeeds in developing new talents, whilst progressing the tribal sound.
Recently in the studio with Loxy, Ruckspin, Cern & Sun of Selah, he continues to keep things fresh and forward thinking. Heavily inspired by Rhythm & Sound and roots culture, the past few months have seen J.Robinson also crossing over into the realms of Dub & Reggae with some exciting projects still to be announced. The Tribe12 movement is just getting started.
BUNZER0 (BE, Sub.fm, Mindstep music)
Ah yes. The man, the legend. Encompassing years upon years of experience dj'ing various styles, Bunzer0 was at the front of the ranks when dubstep was growing it's first tendrils out of the UK, and hosted Belgium's very first events inviting names that all turned out to become household. Netting himself spots at Dour festival (various times), Ancienne Belgique (next to Amon Tobin), and so much more, he's also an undisputed leader on the international scale with multiple performances at Outlook festival Croatia, the most prestigious gigs in the UK including FWD, and even a little USA visit. Nowadays also very busy with his own productions, he is still running the FOB radioshow on sub.fm, a fan favorite.
MENTAL FORCES (BE, Tribe12, Cylon Rec., Mentality)
The collective of 'Mental Forces', apart from being producers and able to stick their heads out with some quality dub influenced releases, are also the driving force behind the 'mentality' organisation.
As producers and DJ's, they're far from unknown anymore, landing spots on some of Belgium's biggest stages (Star Warz, for instance). The sound keeps getting noticed more and more abroad, netting some sets in Netherlands, Germany, UK, France, Turkey and more.
With releases on Tribe12, Voodoo Music, Cylon Recordings, Architecture, Renegade Hardware, Urban Poetry, Foundation X and more, the future is looking bright (and mental)...
Keep in mind, Thursday 29th of May is a HOLIDAY, so no reason not to do both gigs!
